Accounting for a small shop: which book comes first
A small shop’s accounts start with four questions. What sold today. What cash came in. Who still owes. What is in the godown. Income-tax schedules and an auditor’s format come after that. If the software demands that format on day one, the shop goes back to the notebook.
Suchok keeps orders, stock, dues, and accounts. Haji Goribullah Enterprise has 99 orders. Pro is 499 BDT/month. We do not claim it replaces a chartered accountant’s full set.
Order of work
- The item list and the stock you have now.
- Regular buyers, with the dues already open.
- New orders from that list.
- Payments against those dues.
- At month end, export what the auditor asked for. If the file cannot be downloaded, the books are stuck.
Do not mix cash sales and credit sales in one column. The drawer should match the cash, not the credit.
