An online shop breaks stock in two places. An order arrives on the site, and the same item sells off the shop shelf. Two books means the same piece can be sold twice.

What has to match

• A site order also reduces shop stock
• A size or colour that is gone cannot be ordered
• Cancelling before delivery puts the stock back
• A later price change does not rewrite an old order
